Instructor

Josi Alexander has over 21 years of experience as a choir director, a vocal coach, and music director in various capacities. Mrs. Alexander earned her Bachelors of Choral Music Education from Ouachita Baptist University and her Masters in Music at Southern Methodist University. She has been teaching private voice and piano for over 20 years. However, in 2022, she has been out of the school system and is devoting the majority of her time to private music instruction.

Mrs. Alexander has such a passion for all of the performing arts. She has had choirs that have placed in the finals at various show choir competitions and her choir was the Grand Champion in the North Texas Show Choir Competition in 2020.  She is also a current choir adjudicator for UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contests and has been a featured clinician for TMEA choirs.

Josi Alexander is the former Director of Choral Activities for Mansfield Timberview High School and the Fine Arts Department Head. She has been at Timberview from 2011-2022 as head director. Prior to that, she was the director at TA Howard Middle School. The choirs at both have consistently won sweepstakes at UIL Concert & Sight Reading competitions and superior ratings at festivals. She has also worked in the Duncanville School district as an intermediate and middle school director. While in Duncanville, Mrs. Alexander was the District Coordinator for Music Grades K-6.

In addition to 21 years of teaching experience, Josi Alexander has had the pleasure of serving as Children’s Choir Director for The Potter’s House Dallas as well as Friendship West Baptist Church. She has also served as musical director for several musical productions: The Wiz, Dreamgirls, In the Heights, Guys & Dolls, Tarzan, Aladdin Jr., and Hairspray.

Josi Alexander is married to Rico Alexander. Together they have 5 children. Mrs. Alexander and her family currently reside in Grand Prairie, TX where she is the owner and operator of Jael Music Studio. Josi Alexander is also a voice instructor in the Mansfield Independent School District as well as Dallas Independent School District. She also is a Educational Choral Music consultant for various districts in the DFW area.
